Hi we would recommend users use GitHub Codespaces to avoid this issue all students get FREE access to Codespaces via https://education.github.com

Hi @leestott , True, it's what we fell back on,but speaking from experience , GH Codespace took a solid 5 minutes on an average minimum to provision it (expectedly since it's a 3 GB codebase) Bulk of bloat is git history of translated pics which is not required for most of the attendees. I will send a PR tomorrow in terms of instructions in README to ensure this does not effect bootcamp attendees. Unfortunately those wanting to contribute to the repo will have to bear the pain of this huge codebase.
