some users including myself coming from traditional desktop environments are used to seeing app icons in the taskbar and some users even tried to replicate it using waybar:

but there’s no font that includes every app icon you want and remaking your font every time you need to add an application isn’t practical
some users successfully replicated the behavior without using symbols in fonts but using gtk/qt widgets instead:

I think it would be great if this was a simple configuration option officially supported by waybar.
