What are you trying to do? What is your use case?

We follow the International System of Units (SI) when displaying gigabyte (GB): 10^9 bytes. I propose we add a tooltip over anywhere we display bytes to clarify what the actual number of bytes is. It also gives users a more precise number.

This has come up a few times with requests to change to the binary unit (#2121, #1880), which we don't intend to do.
