community website for organizing local meetups

So, I've heard this talked about a few times and figured we could create a discussion for it similar to how JB did for the website.

I'd be interested to see what alternatives people know about 😁

I think the requirements (that have been outlined so far, please correct me if there are more) are:

1. allow some sort of self-organization (i.e. people in the Raleigh can coordinate when OSS events happen like with ATO)
2. needs to be organized geographically (maybe drop pins on Open Street Map to show available meetups)
3. allow JB team moderation rights to handle if anyone being mean
4. I'd imagine open-source and self-hosting are preferred, but it's probably not a strict requirement (if it hits all the features)

Even if we can't find an alternative that's currently available, I think getting all the requested/wanted features in a centralized location would allow someone to build it if they wanted to 👷 🥳

So, if you don't know of something, but have a feature you'd like to see from it drop it in as a comment as well 🚀

(BTW, if you remember/find the other platforms that were mentioned on different podcast episodes would you mind linking both the episode and platform mentioned)

I think this has been mentioned before and has some downfalls, but I can't remember what they were so I'm going to list it either way 😁
