Ulysses Maclaren commented on Disqus at March 03 2023, 06:51 Be forward looking - don't focus overly on what happened... just enough to see there was a problem. Instead, put most of your focus on what the 2 of you, together, can do to make the future better. A large part of successful negotiation is about framing it as you 2 against the problem, rather than you against them (thank Chris Voss - Never Split the Difference - for that insight :) ) |

Chris commented on Disqus at March 03 2023, 07:27 Overall this is a good rule! I have a couple of comments though: > One-off task - Most of the time, even if you're unhappy with some work you've been given, but it's a one-off task, don't stress the small stuff, and just get it done > Avoid bad blood That's my 2cents :) |

Jimmy Chen commented on Disqus at March 03 2023, 07:47 I like this topic more than any others. This topic is important because emotion plays a big part in our ordinary work, conflict and argument are always happening. People enjoy their work not only considering their remuneration, but also a comfortable and lovely environment. I love the olive rule and the time when to push back. I believe the best solution is always an appropriate way to release the emotions, not ignore or freeze them. In addition, I believe a good third party is always a good choice. |
