Torsten .... this idea is genius !!! I have been looking for something like this for a while but I did not know how exactly to search :)
Now I found you...
I am not a programmer so hopefully you will be able to help me along the way. Will need to buy a few devices first then I will start the tests.
As Linux is not my main playground (Im more of a windows man) ... I would be probably runing this on Windows for first to check the functionality , then run it on a Linux VM with USB passtrough or Py.

In the mean time I had another impulsive idea ... can the application act as a "relay" between 2 type of batteries ?

Example my situation : Have JK BMS on one battery and Pylontech on 8 other batteries.
Want to "link" them together and have either the JK as master or the Pylontech.
Then the app could take the BMS data from one stack in one protocol and relay it to the other stack in another protocol ? Then I would only have one stack connected to the inverter directly.
This could be one way to use it ?

Yes, you can connect different batteries with different protocols. The application will aggregate the data received via each configured BMS and forward it to the inverter with whichever protocol it understands.
You might need to stack some CAN or RS485 hats on your RPI if they speak different protocols, i.e. JK CAN on port can0 Pylon CAN on can1 (first CAN hat) and the inverter on can2 (second stacked CAN hat).
Please note that if you are running on Windows CAN will not be an option as the native drivers only support Linux. Also note that your best option would be a RPI 4B as on the RPI 5 I (and others) had some problems with the Waveshare CAN hat (but maybe they upgraded it now or provide a new hat for RPI 5)

Yes, I ordered a Pi4 and 3 stackable CAN / RS485 boards so I will have 4 RS485 and 4 CAN so I can communicate with inverter either via CAN or RS485.
Will get back when I figure out how to run all this on Pi :)

Question : Let's say I have 10 battery packs , each pack will recommend 10A for charging. Will the software send the 10A current request to the inverter or 10x10A ? Will it sum the current limit or not ?
Or if the battery packs have mixed current limit ... how will it control the inverter ?

Hi @GeorgeSasDK,
it will aggregate the reported charge current limits. That means it will add them up and do a 10x10A=100A aggregation.
If you don't want that then you can always use the manipulation plugin to set a different limit.
