Terminal input/output to programs

I am using gdbgui in remote mode. Isn't there a better way to run programs accepting input from a terminal other than the set inferior-tty command?
The current way of doing this using the set inferior-tty is really inconvenient.

There is and it’s high on my priority list. It requires a significant change to the back end, but I have done some prototyping and have a plan to implement it. I hope to have it added within the next month or two.
