We should fix this for Go 1.5 even though it is not in the Go 1.5 code tree (as far as I can tell). golang.org/pkg/#subrepo has the same problem.

Perhaps it's not possible, but FWIW it would be great if http://golang.org/x/ returned
some indication of what lies beneath rather than a 404.
