Just a quick question before it gets merged: should this go into 1.14.1, given that we don't have any further RC releases planned?

@dbanck I'm unsure if that question is directed at me or the reviewer. This was the only available branch related to 1.14 that I could merge into. Let me know if there is any further action required by me.

@stephybun no further action is required on your part. You picked the correct branch for 1.14. Thank you for backporting the fix!

The timing of when this PR is merged will determine which release it goes into. If it is merged before next Wednesday, it will be included in 1.14.0; if it is merged after that, it will be included in 1.14.1. As we generally don't merge any changes between the last RC and the final release, we may keep this PR open until after the 1.14.0 release.
