Ivan's comments on failure modes:

  • For one reason or another, the flight fails to complete. Battery issues in some cases, but more often the pilot needs to abort due to connection issues, wind, etc.
  • There are gaps in the photo coverage somewhere in the middle of the flight, for example, a fog rolled in, the SD card wasn't quick enough and the photo buffer of the drone filled up, etc.
  • When using wayline flight, the operator activates the two-second photo acquisition before the gimbal has been oriented for data collection and/or doesn't stop the photo acquisition after the flight plan has completed and the camera orients toward the home position, and captures a bunch of images of the horizon.
