Changing syntax highlighting style

Have generated a CSS style for chroma using

hugo gen chromastyles --style=nordic

and have put it into assets/css/custom.css
But i don't see it taking effect on my page, how do i resolve this?

First of all, thank you for creating this theme! I really like it.

I had the same problem. With some trials and errors and tweaking things, the solution for me was to set markup.highlight.noClasses = false.

markup:
  highlight:
    noClasses: false

The doc says it is false by default, but when I comment it in my hugo.yaml, the default highlight style is used, or the one that is specified by markup.highlight.style.
