[Linux] Headset vs Handsfree modes

Update: I was able to connect my airpods 2 pro after repairing.

I have noticed that the airpods is working properly only in the Handsfree mode (Output Profile: HSP/HFP, codec mSBC). When I change it to Headset mode (Output Profile: High Fidelity Playback A2DP Sink, codec SBC), I am audio drops very frequently. Is headset mode not recommended because of Bluetooth bandwidth issues due to High Fidelity output profile?

Apologies for the very late reply, slipped past me.

When I experience audio problems with A2DP, restarting the app usually fixes it for me. Happens when the app does several Bluetooth operations simultaneously or too quickly, not sure though.
