Generated Code Output Location in Maven

Hi, I apologize if this is something obvious and I'm not familiar with some aspect of java packages, but I notice the default config is set to generate the java code and put it in the target folder, are we supposed to copy paste the code into our project? When I tried to set it up to use the same package/have the code be put in the same spot as the rest of my code it overwrites anything in that folder.

Also I apologize if this is a double post, I thought I submitted this question earlier but I didn't see it in the discussion (unless I did post it and it just needs to be approved) Thanks in advanced!
