How to select text in less output?

IIRC, kitty used to allow me select and copy output of less (eg: git log). However, since a couple of releases I am unable to do so. Either I am remembering it wrong that kitty used to allow that or this has changed since v0.40.0.

So my question is: how can I select and copy less output?

The usual way, click and drag.

Okay maybe the issue is because of the fact that I have:

$ echo LESS
-R --mouse --wheel-lines=2

This prevents me from clicking and dragging to select less output.

Okay, I can hold shift and select.
Do you have any idea how this can be "fixed"? But anyway, it's not a dealbreaker.

Changed less config to just have -R and it works now.

$ echo $LESS
-R
