What is coming with this?

Just discovered this awesome addition to the Netbox environment. Before I go full deep-dive in this, I was wondering what this statement actually means:
"Note: As of March 2023 Netbox-Device-Type-Library-Import has been brought into the NetBox Community Organization. We will work to get this fully supported soon. "

What is to come? Are the plan to integrate this into Netbox, so you can just select the device you want from a device-database and have it completely specified in advance, from e.g. just a dropdown in the gui, when defining a new template?
I would hate to spend a lot of time doing my own "smart" thing, if something smarter is coming in the near future.

Not sure if there is any plans for this, the standard way to import these devices into netbox is using the mentioned import script.

Ok, but as I read it, the script imports all devices from at least one vendor. We are not really interested in having all devices from e.g. Cisco or Juniper in our database.
I was hoping for something being available in the GUI, so the less script-keen people can take advantage of this, like students hired to setup devices, but not really need to have management access to the devices afterwards, just needing to document them.
