[OVERVIEW]
As stated as in the Contribution Guide, the Discover COOKBOOK has grown organically through ongoing contributions of numerous community members (and admins):
The cookbook has benefitted from these many contributors and the diversity of perspectives they represent. However, its organic growth over time has also impacted the user experience for both readers and contributors, in the following ways:
Scope creep
Conflicts in the guidelines themselves (for example, regarding how contributions are made), and
Redundant content in multiple places (sometimes with conflicting recommendations)
[IDEA/RECOMMENDATION]
With this in mind, the current edition (Cookbook) and WIP repository in github could benefit from a comprehensive read-through and revision, with an eye towards the following:
Consistency (content, format, and overall goal of the Cookbook guidelines)
Resolution of conflicts -- at a guideline (granular) level, as well as regarding broader intent and scope of the Cookbook (i.e., not all content supports the project's stated goals and scope)
Potential removal of redundant (possibly conflicting) guidelines
[NOTE]
Following the stages outlined in the "Content and Design" Section of the Contribution Guide (https://github.com/numfocus/DISCOVER-Cookbook/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md), this thread is starting as an idea tagged as a Discussion; further granularity can be provided if reviewers find this topic worthy of approval so that it can progress as an issue.
