Hello everyone,

I was previously paying for GitHub Pro and Copilot Pro. I have now been successfully verified for the GitHub Student Developer Pack, which includes these benefits.

Could someone please guide me on the correct steps to cancel my paid subscriptions so I don't get charged for the next billing cycle? I want to make sure I switch over to the student benefits seamlessly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Steps to cancel paid GitHub subscriptions:

1. Log in to GitHub and go to Settings → Billing & plans.

2. Under Your subscriptions, find GitHub Pro and Copilot.

3. Click Manage next to each subscription.

4. Choose Cancel subscription and follow the confirmation prompts.

5. Ensure the cancellation is successful.

6. Check Settings → Billing & plans → Student benefits to confirm your Student Pack is active.

Advice: Cancel the paid subscriptions only after confirming your Student Pack benefits are active to avoid losing access.

Here are the official steps to cancel your GitHub Copilot subscription:

In the upper-right corner of any page on GitHub, click your profile photo, then click ⚙️ Settings
In the "Access" section of the sidebar, click 💳 Billing & licensing and then Licensing (new platform). Alternatively, click 💳 Billing and plans, then click Plans and usage (original platform)
In the "GitHub Copilot" section, select the Manage subscription dropdown on the right and then click Cancel subscription
Select Cancel Copilot Pro+/Copilot Pro to confirm that you want to cancel your plan at the end of the current billing cycle
After cancellation, you'll retain access until the end of your billing cycle, then automatically be downgraded to Copilot Free.
