Based on your description, this is a known issue for students whose schools are not in GitHub's automated verification database, which is common for many international and vocational institutions. The standard application flow often hides the document upload option if it detects a school in its list (even if your specific school isn't listed). Here is a specific, actionable solution. 1. Bypass the Standard Flow – Use the Direct Manual Verification LinkThe "upload documents" option is only available on the manual verification page, not the standard email-based application. You must access this page directly. Action: This is the official page for submitting proof of enrollment when your school email is unavailable or your institution isn't listed. You should see a form to upload your documents immediately. 2. Prepare Your Documents CorrectlyGitHub's documentation states you must provide clear, legible scans or photos of official documents. For China, the Xuexin report (中国高等教育学生信息网) is the gold standard and is widely accepted. Required documents for your case:

4. If the Direct Link Fails or Shows an Error
5. Contacting Support Effectively (To Break the Loop)Since Copilot and standard support created a loop, you must contact human support with a structured ticket that forces escalation. Action:
Why this works: You provide all necessary details upfront, specify the exact technical problem (missing UI option), state your prepared solution (documents), and explicitly request a human to break the automated cycle. Mentioning the specific URL ( Official Documentation Reference
Summary of Steps
This issue is common for students at non-traditional and international schools. The manual verification path exists specifically for your situation—you just need to access it directly and ensure support doesn't send you back to the standard email flow. |

Hi there, I've seen many students encounter this "missing upload option" loop recently. It usually happens when the browser's security settings or location services interfere with the GitHub Education verification flow. Based on what has worked for others, here are a few things you should try: Use GitHub Mobile: Try applying via the browser on your smartphone. Often, the mobile flow is more "direct" and will automatically trigger the camera/upload option when it detects you don't have a school email. Enable Location Services: GitHub is very strict about location. Ensure your browser has permission to access your GPS/Location. They often cross-reference your current location with your school's address. If your location is blocked, the "Upload" button might not appear. The "Search" Trick: In the school selection dropdown, try re-typing your school's name slowly. Sometimes, a small link saying "I don't have a school-issued email" or "My school is not listed" appears right below the search box. Clicking that usually forces the document upload flow to open. Verification Documents: Since you are in China, your Xuexin (CHSI) report is actually the best document to provide. Make sure the report is translated into English (or use the official English version from CHSI) and that your name matches your GitHub billing/profile name exactly. If none of these work, try opening the application page in Incognito/Private mode with all browser extensions (like ad-blockers) turned off. Hope this helps you get your Pack soon! |

Hey! I've seen this issue come up a few times in the community, and the good news is — it's totally fixable. Here's what I'd suggest: Step 1: Try recovering your old account first Step 2: If account recovery isn't possible, contact GitHub Support directly You lost access to your old account due to 2FA issues |

Hey, I faced a similar situation because my school also did not provide an academic email address. The upload documents option sometimes does not appear correctly in the standard Education flow and it can create an endless redirect between Support and Copilot pages. In my case, the issue was eventually resolved after contacting GitHub Education Support directly and clearly explaining that my school had no official student email system. I also attached my student ID and enrollment proof during the request. Since you already prepared valid documents, you should still be eligible for manual verification once support reviews your case. |

Hi, This issue usually happens when the Education application flow doesn’t load the “no school email / upload documents” path correctly, which creates exactly the loop you’re seeing. A few things that often fix it:
If none of this works, then it’s not something you can fix locally. It’s a backend eligibility flow issue for your region/school setup. In that case, you should contact GitHub Education Support again and clearly mention:
Support can manually switch your application to document-based verification if the UI option is missing. Hope this helps you get unstuck. |

Hello GitHub Community,
I am a student from Tangshan Vocational College of Science and Technology, China. My school does not provide official student email addresses, so I need to apply for the Student Developer Pack via document upload.
However, I am stuck in a loop:
I have prepared my student ID card and Xuexin (China Higher Education Student Information) enrollment report as proof of enrollment.
Has anyone else encountered this issue? How did you solve it? Any help or advice from the community or GitHub staff would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
