Hi everyone,

I am a student at Zagazig National University (Egypt), and I am trying to apply for the Student Developer Pack. However, I am stuck at the application stage with the following error:
"An application must have at least one organization to apply for benefits. Please try again."

It seems my university is not currently recognized as an organization in your system. My official student email is 29212023200298@medinf.znu.edu.eg.

I have my official student ID and enrollment documents ready to prove my status, but the system prevents me from proceeding to the upload stage because it doesn't recognize the school name.

Could you please help me resolve this so I can submit my application and upload my documents for verification?

Ugh, that "no organization" error is honestly such a mood killer when you're just trying to get your dev tools set up. I totally hear you, Noran, especially since you've got your ID and everything ready to go.

The snag here is actually a bit of a domain mismatch. If you look closely at that yellow warning box in your screenshot, the system is specifically looking for emails ending in domains like ai.znu.edu.eg or meceng.znu.edu.eg. Since your email uses medinf.znu.edu.eg, the system is getting confused and acting like the school doesn't exist for your specific department yet.

To fix this and finally get to that upload stage, you'll need to go into your GitHub account settings and officially add and verify that medinf.znu.edu.eg email address first. Once GitHub confirms that email is active, the "Continue" button should stop ghosting you and let you move forward to upload your student ID. If the school name still won't stick, try typing it out slowly and selecting the closest match from the dropdown, or look for the "enter the full school name" option mentioned right under the search bar to force it through. You've got this!

I already added and verified my academic email address 29212023200298@medinf.znu.edu.eg in my GitHub account settings, but I am still getting the same “An application must have at least one organization” error when trying to apply for GitHub Education benefits.

It seems that the domain medinf.znu.edu.eg is still not being recognized correctly by the system.

Could you please check if this domain can be added or linked to Zagazig National University?

From what I can see, your academic email is actually verified correctly on your GitHub account already, so you’ve done the important part properly. The problem honestly looks like GitHub Education’s domain recognition system simply does not recognize medinf.znu.edu.eg as being linked to Zagazig National University yet.

I checked the screenshot carefully and GitHub is currently only recognizing domains like ai.znu.edu.eg, meceng.znu.edu.eg, and ais.znu.edu.eg. Because of that, the system is probably treating your faculty domain separately instead of as part of the university organization database, which is why the application keeps failing even though your email itself is verified successfully.

So honestly, I really do not think the issue is on your side anymore. This looks much more like a backend mapping problem inside GitHub Education. The best thing now is probably to contact GitHub Education Support and ask them to manually review or add the medinf.znu.edu.eg domain to Zagazig National University’s approved domains.

And based on what you showed, I actually think your chances are pretty good because the email format clearly belongs to the university structure already. It just seems the automation system hasn’t been updated to recognize that specific subdomain yet 😭
