Hi everyone,

Hello,

I am a high school student applying for education benefits. My application was denied, but I believe there is an error in the verification process.

I have already provided my official school ID (which includes my school name in English) and verified my status via my academic email address. Despite this, I received a notification stating that the school name was not visible and requesting documentation.

If there is any specific reason why these documents are not being accepted, please let me know so I can resolve it. Thank you.

1. Re-upload with a Clear Photo (No Scans)
   GitHub’s automated system hates scanned documents or PDFs. It wants a live photo.

Take a clear, high-resolution photo of your school ID using your phone or webcam.

Make sure your school name, your name, and a current date/year (2026) are completely visible and not blurry.

2. Translate Your School Name
   If your school ID is not originally in English, GitHub's automated scanner will likely reject it even if you can see it.

If possible, use an official document that has an English translation, or include a official school document alongside your ID that clearly maps your school's local name to its English name.

3. Check your GitHub Profile Details
   The automated system cross-references your ID with your account.

Go to your GitHub profile settings and make sure the Name on your profile matches the name on your school ID exactly.

4. Use the Right Network
   Make sure you are applying while connected to your school’s Wi-Fi network if you are on campus. GitHub checks your IP address location to verify it matches the school's location. Turn off any VPNs.

I am also having the same issue been rejected 5 times now and I have made sure everything is clear in photos and everything matches y'all's verification process is bugged I also was never given a school id because it is a online school

Here's the message that returned to me:

• The image you selected does not appear to contain your school name. Your complete school name must appear in your document, not only the school logo. You may include multiple documents together. If your official document is not in English then you may photograph the original next to an English translation.
• If your school provides an academic email, then please verify and use your academic email address. If your school does not provide an academic email address, then you must enable use of your device camera to capture your image.

The english school name clearly shows up in my school id card, and I used my academic email address that my school provides, but they keep rejecting my application.
