Hi everyone,

I am unable to validate my educator status after many tries. I have tried uploading PNG files of my salary receipt and my designation as a Associate Professor, but the systems keeps failing. I have also printed this documentation, without any luck. All the documents are in Spanish.

Can you provide any help?

@gmsanchez i was facing this problem also and tried again from mobile using another browser (chromium) and the problem solved and all is ok

The GitHub verification system is really strict and almost always rejects uploaded files like PNGs to prevent spam.

Instead of uploading a saved file, try using your phone or laptop camera to take a live photo of your printed documents right during the application process.

A few other quick tips:

Turn off your VPN and make sure your browser location is turned on so it matches your university's location.

Make sure the current date is super clear on your salary receipt.

Since your documents are in Spanish, the automated system might just be having a hard time reading the text. If the live photo trick still fails, your best bet is to open a direct support ticket so an actual human at GitHub can look at your Spanish documents and approve them manually.

I already tried printing the documents and taking photos with the cell phone, without luck. I don't use a VPN fot this.

​Just fill out the form, explain that the automated system keeps rejecting your live photos, and ask them to manually review your documents.

If I go to the URL you provide and try to fill a direct support ticket, I pop-up telling me that "Individual manual reviews and status updates are no longer provided" appears and the report fields don't let me input any feedback on the issue. I am attaching a screenshot.

It's really frustrating since I have been a teacher for more than 10 years and have been granted the Github Educator simply by uploading the salary receipt PDF file. All this automation process are making this really difficult.

@gmsanchez Ah, that really sucks! They must have just changed the rules to block manual reviews.

Try clicking the "My selected school has incorrect information" option at the bottom of that pop-up. Sometimes that tricks the form into giving you a text box so you can type your actual problem and bypass the block.

If that doesn't work, we just have to hope GitHub staff sees this thread and steps in. Good luck!

One thing that may help narrow this down is separating the document language from the verification failure.

GitHub Education accepts applications from institutions around the world, so documents being in Spanish should not, by itself, prevent verification. If your applications are consistently rejected even after submitting live camera photos, the issue is more likely related to the document meeting the automated verification criteria rather than its language.

A few things to double-check:

• Does the document clearly show your full name exactly as it appears on your GitHub account?
• Is your institution's name clearly visible?
• Does the document explicitly indicate your current faculty position (e.g., Associate Professor) and that it is current?
• If you're using a salary receipt, does it clearly identify both you and your employer? In some cases, an employment certificate or official staff identification may be easier for the verification system to interpret.

Since you've already tried both uploaded images and live camera photos, I'd also include in your support request that:

• you've attempted verification on multiple occasions,
• you've used the live camera workflow,
• and the documents are official institutional documents in Spanish.

That gives the Education team enough context to determine whether the issue is with the automated verification process or whether a manual review is needed.

The previous years I got to validate my educator status, I always uploaded the salary receipt PDF file and had no problem. The automation process keeps complaining about something different every time.

My designation as an Associate Professor has all the relevant data I suspect you could ask. The University name, the Faculty, the Department, the Class name, my name and the position. That's from 2025.

The salary receipt has my name and the university name, the faculty it's coded in a number. It's from june 2026.

Whenever I try to use the live camera, the algorithm complains about the resolution. Whenever I try to upload a PNG, it complains about not using the live camera. I can't upload PDF, which are all authentic and also digitally signed by the authorities.

I really don't know what else can I do

One thing that may help when contacting GitHub Education is to mention this timeline explicitly:

You were successfully verified as an educator in previous years.
You're submitting official, current institutional documents (June 2026 salary receipt and a 2025 Associate Professor appointment document).
The live camera workflow fails with a resolution error.
Uploading an image instead is rejected because it wasn't captured through the live camera.

At this point, you've already tried both supported submission methods, so it seems you're blocked by conflicting validation checks rather than missing documentation. Including these specific details in your support request should make it clearer that this may require a manual review or investigation into the automated verification process rather than another attempt with the same documents.

I hope the Education team can take a closer look, especially since this appears to be a regression compared to your previous successful educator verifications.

Make sure the document is clear, high-resolution, and shows your full name, institution, job title (Associate Professor), and a recent date if applicable.
Upload the original PDF (if available) instead of a screenshot or printed/scanned copy.
Ensure there are no cropped edges, glare, or blurred text.
