We are aligned with the fact we need also to track changes in a dedicated prompt gitops system. LiteLLM introduces .prompt file extension Litellm prompt we need to agregate the ecosystem with the same standard. |

Describe the feature or potential improvement
We propose the addition of a configuration setting within Langfuse to completely disable the ability to edit prompts directly through the user interface for all users, regardless of their assigned roles.
Our workflow relies on managing prompts exclusively through our CI/CD pipeline and version control system to ensure consistency, track changes effectively, and prevent accidental or unauthorized modifications directly in the UI.
While role-based permissions exist, we require a stricter, instance-wide control to enforce this workflow across the entire team.
Allowing prompt edits only via API or specific deployment processes, while disabling UI edits globally, would provide the necessary safeguard for maintaining the integrity and controlled evolution of our prompts.
This feature would enable organizations like ours, which mandate infrastructure-as-code or GitOps principles for managing critical configurations like prompts, to fully leverage Langfuse while adhering to our internal governance policies.
We believe implementing a global toggle to disable UI prompt editing would be a valuable addition for teams seeking robust control over their prompt management lifecycle within Langfuse.
