New contributor interested in GSoC 2026 – guidance on project ideas

Hi everyone,

I’m a new contributor interested in participating in GSoC 2026 with PyMC.

I’ve recently submitted a small documentation PR (#8210) to improve onboarding for new contributors. I would really appreciate feedback and guidance on aligning my contributions with the project’s expectations.

I’ve also been exploring the GSoC project ideas and am particularly interested in:

• Streaming Inference
• Spatial Modeling

I would love to know:

• Which areas are currently most relevant for new contributors
• How I can start contributing more effectively
• Any suggestions on preparing a strong GSoC proposal
