Hi all,
I am Ivan and as most developers I look at OSS everyday, however usually don't contribute. I've noticed that this is often because I feel intimidated by the existing codebase. So me and a friend decided that we want to do something to help developers and maintainers with getting up to speed new people. We think visualizaitions are the best way to go, I would love to hear if you agree with us on this. Further I saw that safety is hiring people, I wonder have you already thought on how you would onboard them to the existing codebase?
This said, mew and my friend are working on generating always up-to-date high-level diagrams for onboarding and generated one for the safety project: https://github.com/CodeBoarding/GeneratedOnBoardings/blob/main/safety/on_boarding.md. The diagram is generated based on Static analysis and then LLMs.
It would be awesome to hear what you think of the generated diagram and supporting text! Any sort of feedback is more than welcome as we are trying to do something that is actually useful to people :)
Full disclosure: we're trying to turn this into a startup, but we're still in a very early stage and figuring out what will actually be useful for people.
