OAuth2 not working with 1.1.6 release

My code works if I go back to the 1.1.5 release.

This issue comes from jhipster/generator-jhipster#567

We have a null pointer exception when creating the AuthenticationManager, as the BootDefaultingAuthenticationConfigurerAdapter.defaultAuth field is not initialized anymore.

If you want to reproduce it, create a JHipster application with all default options, excepted for the authentication mechanism (select "token based"). Then run "mvn spring-boot:run"

The JHipster guys found a quick fix, see #566. This worked for me.

Add this to your web security configuration extending WebSecurityConfigurerAdapter:

    @Configuration
    public class WebSecurityConfig extends WebSecurityConfigurerAdapter {

        // ...

        @Override
        @Bean 
        public AuthenticationManager authenticationManagerBean() throws Exception {
            return super.authenticationManagerBean();
        }

This should work both ways in 1.1.7. Looking at the samples is usually a good way to see how to do authentication manager configuration (the patterns in there would work too in 1.1.6). See #1556.
