Mehmet Akif Cifci, an Associate Professor of Computer Science at TU Wien, with over 15 years of experience across academic research and industry in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Data Science.
In my current roles as Associate Professor and COO, I lead advanced, impact-driven AI projects focusing on medical imaging, intelligent automation, and full-stack platform development. My core mission is to build transparent, scalable, and ethically aligned AI systems that reshape how we interact with information, healthcare, and software systems.
I actively contribute to open research, publish frequently, engage with developer communities via Medium, and collaborate internationally through platforms such as Kaggle and ResearchGate.
As a Principal Investigator, I lead cross-border research under the TÜBİTAK 2553 Program,
- AI-assisted medical diagnostics and smart healthcare systems
- Cross-platform machine learning infrastructure
- Responsible, explainable AI frameworks
The project facilitates bilateral scientific collaboration, data-driven innovation, and interdisciplinary knowledge exchange.
I contributed as a research partner to ECOLoPES, a visionary initiative funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 FET OPEN programme.
