Says that in the hasitem selector, you can't have a range of slots for the slot selector:
kill @A[hasitem={item=diamond,location=slot.inventory,slot=5..8}]
For some reason it isn't underline the 5..8 anymore but it still says there is an error in my mcfunction file when that is all I have, and if make the range just an integer, it works fine

I didn't know that was valid syntax but makes sense since scoreboards can have that
