Purpose
Sedimentation is treated separately for contracting and expanding updraft area fractions. As a result, tracer sedimentation in regions with non-contracting area fraction is independent of the area fraction, which improves the robustness of the implicit solver. The additional sedimentation contributions associated with contracting area fraction is treated explicitly.
In addition, the Jacobian contributions associated with moist static energy (MSE) sedimentation are included.
