Live updating of VM status

The user dashboard does not update VM status as things are created, destroyed, spun up, spun down, etc.

Ideas:

• Subscribe to some kind of API surface we don't know about?
• Poll once per 5 seconds for like, 30 seconds or smth until we get an answer or we give up.
