This still needs (a) categoric support, (b) palettes, (c) docs, (d) line width adjustment, (e) popover showing values, (f) tests, (g) support for annotations with elements that aren't all in memory. Palettes would switch from specifying min/max color to min/max transparency.

This can use some geometric features of annotations, or takes values from annotation elements' user field. For example, "user": {"key1": 1.23, "key2": {"key3": 4.56}} would offer styling for key1 or key2 - key3.

This still needs (a) categoric support, (b) palettes, (c) docs, (d) line
width adjustment, (e) popover showing values, (f) tests.  Palettes would
