This still needs (a) categoric support, (b) palettes, (c) docs, (d) line width adjustment, (e) popover showing values, (f) tests. Palettes would switch from specifying min/max color to min/max transparency.

This still needs (a) categoric support, (b) palettes, (c) docs, (d) line width adjustment, (e) popover showing values, (f) tests, (g) support for annotations with elements that aren't all in memory. Palettes would switch from specifying min/max color to min/max transparency.
This can use some geometric features of annotations, or takes values from annotation elements'
userfield. For example,"user": {"key1": 1.23, "key2": {"key3": 4.56}}would offer styling forkey1orkey2 - key3.
