Mulit-Scrobbler for last.fm and Maloja

If i have spotify/plex and navidrome all talking directly to last.fm.
multi-scrobbler - consuming last.fm and sending to maloja

If it any advantage/disadvantage with having navidrome also talking to maloja via the listenbrainz api. I see the messages reporting duplicates when hitting maloja.

Generally, a Source should only be sending scrobbles to a location with a single dependency.

In your scenario, navidrome should either only use last.fm or only use maloja.

In a different scenario, where multi-scrobbler is not relaying last.fm to maloja, it would be ok to have navidrome use both maloja and last.fm because there is no possibility of duplicate scrobbles since maloja and last.fm do not depend on each other.

yeah, so I should leave navidrome just going to last.fm, since I'm pulling that back all the time anyway to feed into maloja (for a local copy). As spotify/plex both talk directly to last.fm

So I'm wanting to set up get from last.fm if say spotify, plex based and forward to maloja.
But if navidrome, I want to use listenbrainz endpoint to maloja and also scrobble to last.fm

What options to I have to enable that scrobbles on the multi-scrobber listenbrainz endpoint then forwards to last.fm as this will be the only client talking to that.

I'm sorry I don't fully understand what you're asking, the question is worded in an ambiguous way.

Is this what you want?

• Plex -> maloja
• Navidrome -> listenbrainz endpoint ->
  • maloja
  • last.fm

spotify > last.fm > maloja (working)
plex > last.fm > maloja (working)
Navidrome > listenbrainz endpoint > maloja and last.fm

Spotify and plex would continue to talk direct to last.fm and last.fm would be a source in that scenario.
Navidrome would use the listenbrainz end point of multiscrobbler and feed both maloja and last.fm (and so when this scenario active, how does multi scrobble not pull the track from last.fm)

It's not an ideal scenario, as I mentioned in the previous comment. Why do you need Navidrome to feed both maloja and last.fm?

Multi-scrobbler does duplicate scrobble detection based on how similar track/artist/album is, combined with how close scrobble timestamps are. MS should catch your scenario but there is no guarantee. it's better to not double-scrobble by design.

If you really still want to do this then I would recommend using a Musicbrainz Transformer on:

• last.fm source
• listenbrainz endpoint source

to ensure that Maloja gets the most "normalized" data possible for duplicate comparison.

Ideally I want the data in both maloja and last.fm.
For navidrome, given it was locally hosted, I thought it made sense to have it get the data to both via multi-scrobbler first, rather than push it all out to last.fm and then drag it back (as happens with spotify and plex).

I'm not yet ready to dump my 16 year old last.fm account.

Then I would suggest either:

Use lastfm as the sole source to maloja and have all your services scrobble only to lastfm (not through MS).

or

Make all sources go through MS and have them scrobble simultaneously to maloja and lastfm MS clients
