This is an automated PR to retire @edolstra as a Nixpkgs committers due to not using their commit access for 1 year.

Make a comment with your motivation to keep commit access, otherwise this PR will be merged and implemented in 1 month.

I think we should not merge this for any reason other than Eelco affirmatively saying we should do so. Eelco's status as founder of Nix means, in my mind, we ought to afford him a special status, even if his energies are currently dedicated elsewhere.

I'm not sure why that would be the case. If he doesn't work on Nixpkgs anymore right now, he doesn't need commit access, right? He could easily get it back whenever he needs to?

If we make exceptions, then we imho need to have clear criteria for them, so that they can be applied to other cases, too. "just because" is probably not enough of an argument.

Imho, there are good arguments to be made, that he should still have commit access as part of the nix-team, which also happens to maintain nix inside Nixpkgs.

Seconded.

Wit that argument we are back to handing the nix-team unconditional write access, which we just stopped (for all teams) over in NixOS/org#152.

Why ? This is NixOS, not EelcOS

This PR is for Eelco to make a case for keeping commit access, not for other people to make a case for him.

To avoid discussions going out of hand here, I'm going to overstep my authority a bit by locking this in advance (while giving Eelco write access to this repo so he can still post a comment). The @NixOS/commit-bit-delegation team can undo this if they wish.

If you have more considerations that haven't been brought up already, I recommend reaching out to the Nixpkgs commit delegators privately, it's their decision in the end.
