Saplings other than oak saplings don't work

When you place a sapling other than an oak sapling it turns into an oak sapling. Selecting saplings in the creative menu also doesn't work as they also turn into oak saplings. Using /give is also not an option as the player will just receive oak saplings, e.g when you /give spruce saplings the player receives oak saplings
