Red, Orange, Green components... #4650

Description

@aubergineagain

This is in relation to #4612 and #4545 and also an idea I was pondering a few days ago...

Would it make sense to have 3 levels instead of 2?

  • Recommended (green) components
  • Deprecated (orange) components
  • Obsolete (red) components

This would affect both UI and Stats.Research.

An example is lasers. When I research Heavy Laser (recommended; green) I might still want to use Pulse Laser (deprecated; orange) on occasion because it's cheaper, lighter (useful for VTOLs) and faster to build, but Flashlight (obsolete; red) would no longer be useful at that point.

The button that toggles display of red components would get three states - all, orange, red - so I could choose to show only the latest components, latest + deprecated, or all components. Instead of random pixels being removed, it would look more like a jagged gradient with red on left, then orange center, and green on right.

When red components are removed:

The component/template background panel (or just its outline) would use appropriate color so player can see at a glance what the status of a component/template is. Additionally, component/template panels would be ordered based on status, with green at start, followed by orange, followed by red as I'm more likely to use newer stuff rather than older stuff.

Deprecated (orange) and Obsolete (red) components/templates would remain visible if they are being built in a factory.
