Paragraphs as empty lines when copying text / option to preserve text formatting #3138

Description

@morja

Have you read a contributing guide?

  • I have read CONTRIBUTING.md
  • I have searched the existing requests and didn't find any that were similar
  • I have considered creating a pull request instead and want to proceed

Clear and concise description of the problem

When I paste a text with empty lines into a page, it creates paragraphs, but drops empty lines. When I then copy that same text to paste it somewhere else, the original formatting is lost

This is quite annoying when I want to use Anytype to save formatted text snippets, like email drafts or similar.

Or is this intentional? I know I can use a /code block to preserve the lines. Is that the way to go?

Also when I just write text, due to how paragraphs/blocks are rendered, they have some margin in Anytype, but when I copy this into an email or plain text editor, I lose those and get only newlines in a big chunk of text. Often this is not what I want.

Suggested solution

It would be great to have an option to auto add empty lines between paragraphs when copying text. Or maybe even make this the default. It is already possible to add new lines within a paragraph, so new paragraphs should maybe have newlines when copying it somewhere else. This would be my preference.
