VSP not honored with initial startup command

I have VSP defined as a fan in HomeKit where I can control rpm. Works great. However, if the pump isn’t running and I adjust it from 0% to 20% it just tells the pump to turn on and go to its preset value in aqualink / jandy. After it does its thing (primes and then goes to preset value) then I can adjust down. It would be neat if it would do that automatically. Then I could do automations better.

This probably isn’t something that will put into the coded due to limitations in Jandy panel, and AqualinkD is supposed to be an interface not an automation hub. Functionality you are after is more automation hub related. Although I do understand Apple HomeKit is very limited in the automation respect.

You can however achieve this functionality. Define a one touch button in Jandy with a specific RPM (ie call a one touch button slow pump, and set the RPM and devices), configure that in AqualinkD as a virtual button, that will then be passed to home kit. Then in the HomeKit automation turn on “Filter Pump” then “Slow Pump”, once the Pump has started and primed, it will go to the slow pump RPM.

I was going to try that as well, but homekit doesn't offer such an automation option. It has scenes where it will just hit everything at once, there is no way to do delays (which would be required here).
