I started working on nix-bundle-darwin as a more feature-complete alternative. It's not based on nix-bundle-macos and thus does not share many of its shortcomings. For example, nix-bundle-macos only worked for apps installed in /Applications/ as it still relies on absolute paths. Also, instead of doing the very inefficient binary string patching with hexdumps, nix-bundle-darwin parses and changes the mach objects to patch dynamic library paths.
