Great question! Thanks for asking.

We (FiftyThree), too, have moved from Streamline to promises (really, async/await via TypeScript).

I'm very sorry for not reviewing and merging your PRs in a timely manner! I really appreciate that you took the time to make those contributions. I should have added you as a collaborator/maintainer early on, but for some reason I didn't think of that.

If you'd like to close your PRs now, that's fine. But if you're still interested in this project, I'm happy to add you now and let you take over!

Oh, one question:

As mentioned, we're using promises/async/await now, and AFAICT, this same need still exists:

• Support middleware and route handlers returning promises instead of calling the next callback.
• For route handlers, resolving the promise (signaling that the handler is "finished") should not continue to the next route by default. (That could still be possible, e.g. by resolving to true or w/e.)
• For middleware, it should be possible to resolve the promise (signaling that the middleware is "finished") without continuing. (E.g. by resolving to false or w/e.)
• You should be able to mix and match callback-based and promise-based handlers.

We've seen some sample code and modules that do some but not all of these things (e.g. they support promise-based routes, but not middleware). Have you found anything?

For now, we've written some quick local helpers in our code. But we're wondering if it might make sense to port express-streamline to promises/async/await as well. WDYT?

As for your questions: I only worked on small projects with express and promises and had written the glue code by hand. I didn't even try await yet. Sorry, that I can't help there. 😞

Sorry, but with respect to all the comments about moving from streamline to promises, and after carefully thinking about this for a number of days trying to decide how to respond, I can only say this:

You will pry streamline from my cold dead fingers

Ok, I guess I can say more. This is really an expression of disdain I feel that people are abandoning streamline, and my willingness to persevere with streamline even though it is causing me great difficulties due to support for critical pieces falling away.
