New default to date field behaviour results in more overall keystrokes

When entering transactions manually, I usually have a few transactions on the same day, which results in

Set date -> Tab -> Tab -> Memo -> Tab -> Amount -> Tab -> Category -> Enter
Defaulted new entry to date field -> Tab -> Tab -> Memo -> Tab -> Amount -> Tab -> Category -> Enter
Defaulted new entry to date field -> Tab -> Tab -> Memo -> Tab -> Amount -> Tab -> Category -> Enter

from a previous
Set date -> Tab -> Memo -> Tab -> Amount -> Tab -> Category -> Enter
Defaulted to Memo -> Tab -> Amount -> Tab -> Category -> Enter
Defaulted to Memo -> Tab -> Amount -> Tab -> Category -> Enter

Even with transactions on separate dates, the double-tab now required to move from the date to memo field is also slightly annoying, though I accept it's functionally similar to the Shift-Tab + Tab previously required to go from Memo -> Date -> Memo.

Yes, I know it's annoying for the case when you have transactions on the same date. And you're right that it was intentional to get rid of the need to do any Shift-Tabs #476 with the idea that pressing Tab twice is easier than pressing Shift-Tab once.

Perhaps instead, it could be made to behave like a spreadsheet, where it returns to the first field you focused on. So if focus started on the day of the month, it would start there after creating a transaction. If, however you clicked on the memo field, it would focus back on the memo after creating the transaction.

that could work - I don't have much ideas around this, but double tab with no input in between is even more annoying to me than the previous shift tab, edit date, tab - and right now if I realise I've made a mistake on the date when I've moved to memo, it would be shift-tab, shift-tab, edit date, tab, tab - ouch!

perhaps moving the date picker to the head of the date field could also work, instead of being an almost-always-skipped field between date and memo.

Oh, good call on the date picker being an extra tab stop. I forgot that's how it ended up. I'd be fine moving that to the front.

That might go a long way towards easing the friction, I'll happily provide feedback on that (though the spreadsheet-style focus would be amazing eventually)
