The hCalendar microformat (http://microformats.org/wiki/hcalendar) provides a way for people to embed event data directly into a blog post or other web content, making it possible to automatically extract and collate. Upcoming already supports this.
-
Dapper (http://www.dapper.net/) provides a way for non-programmers to extract information from websites and turn it into a variety of formats, including RSS and iCal.
-
Planet (http://planetplanet.org) is a Python-based blog aggregator, already in use at Planet PDX (http://pdx.epiglyph.com). Easy to set up.
-
an iCal parser for python: http://codespeak.net/icalendar/ (not that we're set on python, but it was mentioned above.
