License change from MIT to GPLv3?

Hi, in the README file, it says that the firmware is licensed under MIT license. However, the LICENSE file on GitHub is GPLv3. Has the license for this project been changed? Which version was it changed starting from if so? Would you be able to clarify the license status of the project?
