IntelliJ: Unable to enable "Full line code completion" with disabled "Tab Autocomplete"

Problem

Using:

• IntelliJ: 2024.2.X
• Full Line Code Completion: bundled 242.20224.419
• Continue: 0.0.62

In this scenario I am unable to use the IntelliJ feature even with disabled "Tab Autocomplete":

Thanks for raising this issue, and for all the +1's. With the major caveat that I may simply be missing something (though I have looked quite hard), we're currently waiting on getting a clearer answer from JetBrains as to why our plugin is considered "conflicting". I fully agree that with Continue autocomplete disabled there is no reason for JetBrains AI not to work, and definitely want users to be able to use both. Unfortunately the API referenced in the link above is for classic "Intellisense-style" completions (as far as I have been able to tell—again, the caveat), which would not be a valid substitute for inline completions.

I hope to have more answers soon, and I've sent further follow-up to the JetBrains team. They've typically been very responsive, so I'm quite hopeful we'll get it worked out soon!

We highly encourage plugins that offer inline completions to migrate to our built-in Inline Completion API, as it’s important for us to ensure consistency and integration. Apologies for not reaching out to you sooner.

You can find the API here.The most crucial part is this class: implementing and registering an instance of InlineCompletionProvider is sufficient for a basic setup.

I have the same issue with Pycharm and with Webstorm. Though today's update for Pycharm popped up a dialogue informing me that this issue is fixed. Then after a restart it told me it was once again disabled :/

This happend every time the plugin is updated, cause the plugin is unloaded after an installation. After a restart it is active again, and incompatible.

@sestinj any updates on this? Unfortunately without this it makes this plugin unusable for me.
If there is no time, do you have any advice, which classes need to be adapted in order to implement this for IntelliJ? The extension is written in Kotlin if I saw that correct? Depending on complexity (coming from Java and first time Kotlin) I may could take a look at it.
