We find it difficult to merge local & production databases. So we ask clients to do a "Content Freeze", which means they should not edit the site for x amount of time. Normally this works fine, but if the team is large, this message doesn't get passed down and content goes missing once we upload the changes.

So, an ability to disable adding, editing & deleting either entries, assets, globals etc would be really helpful. Just a simple config option, that we can enable and disable! :)

I am working on this plugin; https://github.com/bertoost/Craft-GitDeploy
This will make life a bit better against updating from develop to stage/test and production environments.
Also working with Craft core updates (when auto updating is possible) etc.
Still a lot to do, but really need it myself, so working hard to get it done (at least v0.1 :-) hehe).
