tio is the name of a serial device I/O tool, much used in embedded development, and therefore in my scripts and READMEs and other documentation.

I am aware that 'tio' is a likely typo of 'to', especially since the 'i' is next to the 'o' on a qwerty keyboard. However, in practice, at least I don't seem to make that typo.

We have a lot of these odd cases for typos / false positives and I worry that if we try to handle every valid non-standard spelling that exists, we won't have any typos left to correct. I wonder what the line should be for us having built-in support vs leaving this to people's configs.

As a workaround, you can "bless" tio via

[default.extend-identifiers]
tio = "tio"

(or use extend-words if thats more appriopriate)

Hmm, I was about to close this issue as won't fix, however:

$ cd ~/Downloads/source/linux # local clone of the Linux Kernel
$ rg '[^a-z]tio[^a-z]' | wc -l
509

None of them are typos, from quickly glancing over.
I also did a search on all repo's I have cloned, and I gained another 200 matches, also no typos as far as I could tell.

I would not say 'tio' is a common identifier, but when it occurs, it does not seem a typos. So I still vote for it being removed as a misspelling of 'to'.
