There's not much to go on based on this, but I'm sure @terjekv is happy to provide additional info, and maybe you can try reproducing ("eb yasm-1.3.0-GCCcore-9.3.0 --robot")?

My first guess would be that the re2c code is broken in some way and just works "by accident" on x86. Running the failing command in gdb might provide some more insights.

In any case: What is the point of building yasm -- which only supports x86/AMD64 assembly according to the website -- on ARM? I guess it is being used as a dependency for some other package, so just filtering it (--filter-deps) might already do the trick.
