Expected behavior

I am testing ESP Web Tools against esptool.js. I am no longer able to install an image that works fine with release 0.5.7.

Actual behavior (suspected bug)

During installation I get the following error always exactly at 76%:

Using the esptool.js website does work

Just to say I had the same issues, and converting my data stream(s) to use a Uint8Array / writer instead of binary string solved it.

Hi @balloob as @tyeth improving the read and write required us to use UInt8Array as input. I'll make a PR to update docs regarding these changes.

What would be the best to communicate these breaking changes. ? I thought because the flashOptions.fileArray type is now asking for UInt8Array the compiler would show the error: https://espressif.github.io/esptool-js/docs/interfaces/FlashOptions.html#fileArray but that would only happens for Typescript code base.

Make sure to use a major version bump and call out the breaking change in the release notes. NPM version tags that people use should prevent people from getting auto-upgraded.
