I was looking at the various etoile projects and noticed that this project does not mention a specific license. Is there any chance to add a License file stating what the intended license of this project is?

It's intended to be MIT licensed. Before the reorganisation, it inherited the license file from the containing folder.

Thank you for the quick response, and getting a response from the original author makes this a lot easier. Anyways the Original source code on gna ( svn web viewable link ) and the first commit on this git (see: I did take a chance to look at the original source repository for the first commit for this Repository ( See: 03a406d ) is the whole reason for this... Is there any chance to get a commit on this and a few other repositories clearly stating the license?

I probably won't have a chance to get to this until the weekend, but if you want to send a pull request that adds the license file (ideally one that adds per-file licenses / copyright headers) with an MIT or 2-clause BSD license then I'll happily merge it.

I got the changes completed. I went ahead and wrote the changes against MIT license, and identified all of the contributors to this project... In general the overall COPYING file looks like this...

THE SOFTWARE.

Also, I added Copyright headers to all the files, and I wanted to find out on how I should handle the patches... Should I use a single all in one patch, two patches ( One for the Copying File, and another to add the per-file license headers ), or multiple patches ( One for the Copying file, and separate commits for each source/header file combination )

Both together is fine, thanks for doing this!
