Measure Tool 1.2.0 doesn't work with Cura 5.10.0

Sorry for taking my time to get back to you.

The plugin "works fine for me" in Cura 5.10, so I am going to go out on a limb and say it is not so much compatibility with Cura 5.10 that is the issue here. Does this plugin work for you (on the same system) with older versions of Cura?

Even if it is not an incompatibility with Cura 5.10, we are going to have to find out what is not working on your end, and why. What happens when you have the measure tool selected (as in your screenshot) and you click on the model? Does a black dot appear? Do any numbers appear in the From or To fields in the flyout toolpanel (on the left)?

I'm having similar issues in Cura 5.10, specifically when a model is loaded into Cura from the browser as opposed to loading a file.

Here's a repro that appears to work consistently for me in Cura 5.10:

1. Open Cura 5.10.
2. Navigate to https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2816093/files
3. Find LB-V1-CARRIAGE.stl and click "Open in Cura"
4. Click the Measure Tool in Cura, and the tool does nothing regardless of where you click. All the numbers in the from/to/distance fields remain at zero.

It worked in 5.8.1 in Prepare mode, then in 5.10.0 after that.

I don't know what happened but the bug might be there as I have two versions loaded on my PC.

It doesn't work in Preview mode after slicing though. Just one black dot shows up when selecting the object then pressing the measure icon on the left. It's impossible to move the first dot that shows up in Preview mode.

Cura 5.10.0. I want to be able to measure items without having to select anything first. We have to select an item then measure it with the two dots now.

Got any compiled nightly versions of Cura that might work?

The bug that I see here is that the Measure Tool does not disable itself in the Preview view. In the current state it is not usable in the Preview view, and it should disable itself. I will see if I can reproduce and fix this.

No new version of Cura will change that the plugin does not work in Preview; measuring in preview will take a rework of the Measure Tool plugin.

Does measuring still work in Prepare?

This I can at least reproduce.

Note the "Scaling Object" message. With that message displayed - or indeed any message displayed in that area - I can confirm that the measure tool does not work as intended. When I close that message, measure tool works for me. Can you confirm that behavior?
