Poor vision - calendar / date icon

Could an option be made to have the date without the calendar icon? I have poor vision and while I can read the other numbers, steps, temp, etc - I find the calendar one difficult to read because the font is smaller and the calendar icon background.

Going to try and take a stab at this myself at some point

I think it should be doable! I'd imagine that if the background were disabled, we would want to reduce the height of the date widget overall, which might also beneficial for users seeking a more minimalist look:

I can add it to the roadmap, but if you want to give it a go, I'd definitely be open to the contribution! Let me know if you need any help getting started!
