Hi, I'm Ralf! I am a passionate open-source enthusiast at heart and have been advocating for the use of open-source software for decades. My journey began in the pre-2000 years with the Debian GNU/Linux project. Over the years, I’ve helped kickstart the Freifunk community in my area and promoted various projects close to the free and open-source software movement.

Professionally, I am now a Lead Architect at SAP, focusing on the architecture and technology of the SAP RISE Cloud offering, with a particular emphasis on sovereign cloud solutions. Before that, I had the privilege of helping build the pluscloud open — a 100% open-source cloud — from the ground up at plusserver, working closely with the Sovereign Cloud Stack community. As part of this work, I was able to contribute to the Open Operations Manifesto, helping to define transparent, open operational practices for cloud providers.

I remain deeply committed to advancing independent, resilient cloud infrastructures and the open-source ecosystem that makes them possible.

Nowadays, in my spare time, I’m mostly a dad of three — still hacking on things when I can.
